Israel is not to give up her covenant land, which was a gift from God to Abraham and his descendants through the Abrahamic covenant. However, the leaders of modern-day Israel and the world hoped that the "land for peace" plan would work. It has greatly failed, and Israel--the "apple of God's eye"--is now at the most dangerous point in her history. What is happening these days is truly remarkable. But then again, we shouldn't be surprised because the Old Testament prophet Zechariah pre-warned us about the events leading up the Battle of Armageddon, the Battle of Jerusalem: "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it...And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem" (Zechariah 12:3,9).
