Beyond the Resistance is a 21-day guided journal in the study of Nehemiah. It prepares Evangelical Christian leaders, whether paid or volunteer, for the unique challenges that they will encounter in meeting the challenges of ministry. While playing defensive end for the Wheaton College football team, I noticed that I was always in the middle of the play in the middle of where I was supposed to be whenever I ran into resistance. I also noticed that when there was no resistance when I was left alone I was either getting set up or totally out of the play. I learned early to recognize the resistance and turn into it. Each and every time I rushed the resistance, I was significant in the eventual outcome of that play. I have found this principle to hold true in life as well. Where I encounter resistance, I usually find something going on that is significant in the Kingdom work. When I choose to rush this resistance, I choose to be a significant part of the eventual victory.
