When we think of a detective story, we often think of murder mysteries. The Bible contains some detective stories, but they might best be called life mysteries. How is it, for instance, that some of the key personalities in the Bible story slip into the story almost unnoticedlike Judah, for example, the ancestor of Israels beloved King David and of Jesus Christso that you ask, How did she get into this story?" The Bible has some recurring themes; are they related? Such as blood, for instance: the main continuing celebration for most Christians, Holy Communion, centers on the theme of blood. How far back, biblically, does this theme go? In yet another example, our environmentally conscious twenty-first century warns that we humans may destroy our planet. Did the writer of Genesis have a head start on this idea when Cain was warned that the ground would no longer yield for him because he had killed his brother? Is there a spiritual connection between our moral conduct and the welfare of this earth?
